Program Description

National Louis University (NLU) is a four-year, accredited institution of higher education that offers short-term training/certificate programs through the Accelerate U Division. The Accelerate U Medical Assistant Certification training program is a 30-week, 900 hour program aligned to the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification offered by the National Health careers Association. Learners complete more than 700 hours of training and then participate in a ~6 week,160-hour externship with an employer partner. The training program is led by experienced medical assistant instructors and is primarily on-line with the inclusion of in-person 3skill lab4 sessions. Each Accelerate U learner is also paired with a dedicated career coach. Between the training and the externship, learners will sit for their CCMA certification. The Accelerate U MA training program is designed for both employer partners and learners. Our goal is to create a training experience that 1) helps employers get to know and evaluate future potential hires in less than six months, 2) adds additional capacity on a hospital or healthcare floor, and 3) aligns to each healthcare organizations mission of investing in and supporting their local community. For the learner, the experience is designed to provide training in both clinical and administrative skills so they can work as Medical Assistants in physicians offices, hospitals, outpatient clinics, labs or insurance companies.
