                  Program Description
An instructional program that prepares individuals to perform routine nursing-related services to patients in hospitals or long-term care facilities, under the training and supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse. The Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program is approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health and prepares the student to assist the licensed professional nurse and licensed practical nurse as an integral member of the health care team in a variety of health care settings.  Upon successful completion of the program the individual is eligible to take the State of Illinois Nursing Assistant Competency Examination.  Curriculum:  The course instruction includes basic nursing skills through lecture, campus laboratory and supervised clinical experiences at al long-term health care facility.  A passing grade requires the student to have achieved an average score of 80% on written examinations and to meet all laboratory and clinical requirements with a passing grade.
