Program Description
The Computer User Support Specialist program prepares students for opportunities in digital technology careers. The program provides students instruction with an introduction to how computers work, terminology, and common hardware components and options. Students will be provided an introduction to using the Linux operating system and use the command line for navigation and file management and learn the use of basic Linux utilities. Students learn to use text editors and basic scripting and scheduling for processes. Students will be provided an introduction to the installation, configuration, upgrading, diagnosing/troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of computer hardware. They will also learn basic hardware components and assembling the components into a working system. They will gain a complete step-by-step approach for learning the fundamentals of supporting and troubleshooting computer hardware. Students will then be provided with an in-depth study of the functions and features of installing, configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining current Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems. Included in the cost of the program is testing for Comp TIA A+ Certification available in ECC's Testing Lab
