Program Description

The COMPTA-accredited Massage Therapy Program at Elgin Community College provides students with a multidimensional education that prepares them for state licensure and holistic careers that address body, mind, and spirit. The total certificate program consists of 40 credit hours and provides instruction in: the theory, principles, and techniques/application of therapeutic massage and bodywork, anatomy and physiology, musculoskeletal palpation, wellness concepts including breathing sensing, eating, exercising, and thinking, and business and ethics for massage therapists. This class also provides three clinical rotations allowing for 112 hours of hands-on application of the concepts learned.
