Program Description

The Surgical Technology Vocational Specialist certificate prepares students to become skilled and valued members of the operating room team. On campus courses in combination with clinical practice in hospitals equip students to work under the direction of a surgeon and operating room nurse where duties as a surgical technologist include preparing the operating room, handling instruments and supplies during the procedure, and ensuring patient safety. Requirements: 1) ECC Health Professions application 2) PSB-HOA test scores, completion of the PSB-HOA prep workshop is encouraged. 3) A minimum of a C grade in BIO110 or its equivalent or Anatomy & Physiology (BIO240 or BIO245/246) or its equivalent. A national certification exam is given two weeks after graduation at ECC.
