Program Description
This program trains student in the basics of phlebotomy. Phlebotomists draw blood for tests or transfusions, for blood donations, or even for research. Their duties frequently include the following:
5 Draw blood from patients and blood donors
5 Calm patients fears about the blood draw
5 Verify identity to ensure proper labeling of the blood
5 Label the drawn blood for testing or processing
5 Enter patient information into a computer system
5 Assemble and maintain medical instruments such as needles, test tubes, and blood vials.
This program is specifically designed to help students succeed by:
5 Training them in healthcare and cardiovascular foundations
5 Providing the didactic training needed to complete the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) credential
5 Gaining the necessary knowledge and skills needed to be workplace ready in the medical field.
