Program Description

The Medical Records Specialist program offers a self-paced online learning path designed to prepare learners for roles in health information and records management. Students will study key topics including privacy laws and regulations, documentation management, telehealth workflows and electronic health records systems, giving them the knowledge needed to manage patient-data processes in modern healthcare settings. With 24/7 access to coursework, the program allows learners to train on their own schedule and includes one-on-one support and a voucher for a certification exam. While the ultimate aim is employment in roles such as health information technician or medical records specialist, the broader goal is to equip graduates with industry-recognized credentials and validated competencies that enhance their career mobility. The curriculum includes eight individual courses covering foundational healthcare topics, EHR systems, legal/ethical issues and data management workflows. By the end of the program, learners are prepared not only for job entry but for continuing advancement in medical records and health information roles.
