                  Program Description
Students will gain comprehensive knowledge and skills necessary to work in the construction and related occupations that require welding.  Students learn how to weld shielded metal arc or stick (SMAW) in a variety of positions on steel plates and pipe.  Students are also introduced to Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) or Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, OAW (Oxyacetylene Welding), the use of the cutting torch, and plasma arc cutting.  American Welding Society (AWS) procedures are followed throughout the program.  The wider range of skills offered in the AAS degree will provide students with enhanced employment options.
