Program Description

The Welding Program offers 350 hours of hands-on instruction in set-up and operation of GMAW equipment. Topics include: GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, and GTAW. Students also study welding symbols and print reading. Students perform related tasks such as cutting, grinding, machine operation, and basic fabrication according to layouts and blueprints. Students work on projects in teams. Proper safety procedures are emphasized with the use of all equipment.

Application Procedure

Application sessions are offered online via Zoom as of 04/15/2020 (they will be offered in-person once it is safe to do so, given current public health concerns). During the session, applicants will be given an overview of programs and services, and taken on a tour of the training center. They must also complete an application and TABE testing. After the orientation, applicants are interviewed for suitability for the program and WIOA eligibility. Applicants must: 1)be over the age of 18; 2) achieve an 9.0 grade level or higher in math and reading on the TABE test; and 3) be authorized to work in the US. The maximum tuition and fees amount approved for this occupation is $8,000.
