Program Description
This 18-credit-hour certificate program is designed to give students skills in welding and machining to prepare them for entry-level employment in manufacturing. The program of study will emphasize welding theory and extensive practice in major arc welding processes including OAW, SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW. Students will learn the fundamentals of machine shop theory and the practical application to the maintenance and fabrication industry. Students will work from blueprints and will be able to fabricate and repair small parts used in a variety of industrial applications.

3WIOA and TAA students need to contact the Harper College Workforce Coordinator at (847) 925-6782 or WIOA@harpercollege.edu. A separate book voucher is required for Follett Bookstore #1341 on campus. Books can be ship if requested for a small fee. Each semester, all Cook County WIOA sending agency case managers must supply the Harper College Workforce Coordinator with a Semester Training Schedule Approval Form that lists the courses the client will be taking that semester, and this must match the client's Harper Educational Plan.4 The maximum tuition and fees amount approved for this occupation is $8,000.
