Program Description

Get ready to begin a career in food service management by completing this 26 credit hour certificate program. This program will prepare you for full-time employment in a management role within the food service industry. Classes include introduction to the hospitality industry, dining room operations, food standards and sanitation, restaurant layout and equipment, purchasing and storage, hospitality supervision, hospitality law and risk management, menu planning, and more. All courses are taught by knowledgeable instructors who are experts in their fields. Upon completion of this program, students may also be awarded a Management Development Diploma by the National Restaurant Association.

Application Procedure

3WIOA and TAA students need to contact the Harper College Workforce Coordinator at (847) 925-6782 or WIOA@harpercollege.edu. A separate book voucher is required for Follett Bookstore #1341 on campus. Books can be ship if requested for a small fee. Each semester, all Cook County WIOA sending agency case managers must supply the Harper College Workforce Coordinator with a Semester Training Schedule Approval Form that lists the courses the client will be taking that semester, and this must match the client's Harper Educational Plan.4 The maximum tuition and fees amount approved for this occupation is $3,000.
