Program Description
Complete this 36-credit-hour certificate program in Early Childhood EducationFamily Child Care II to qualify for the Illinois Family Child Care Credential Level 3. Courses focus on a variety of topics, including child development, principles of early childhood curriculum, family child care management, and students with disabilities in school. Youll also complete classes in composition, mathematics and psychology. The Harper College Child Care Learning Center, an on-site preschool facility, will give you hands-on experience working with children under the guidance of certified teaching professionals. Credit earned for this certificate can be applied to the Early Childhood Education AAS DegreeFamily Child Care specialization at Harper College.

Application Procedure
WIOA and TAA students need to contact the Harper College Workforce Coordinator at (847) 925-6782 or WIOA@harpercollege.edu. A separate book voucher is required for Follett Bookstore #1341 on campus. Each semester, all Cook County WIOA sending agency case managers must supply the Harper College Workforce Coordinator with a Semester Training Schedule Approval Form that lists the courses the client will be taking that semester, and this must match the client's Harper Educational Plan. The maximum tuition and fees amount approved for this occupation is $5,000.

- Math - Math Competency or Math 065
- Reading - College level English placement by exam or C or better in ENG 100
- Language - College level English placement by exam or C or better in ENG 100
- Writing - College level English placement by exam or C or better in ENG 100
- Prerequisites - Background check and CPR Basic Rescuer
- Other - credit-seeking WIOA clients must have initial & ongoing academic advising
