Program Description
The Child Development Program at Prairie State College at Prairie State College provides comprehensive training in child development, curriculum design, and teaching strategies preparing students for careers in education.
Our program emphasizes hands -on- learning, professional development, and a deep understanding of child development theories. Through a combination of classroom instruction, practical experiences, and community engagement, students gain the skills and knowledge to positively impact young learners.
This program requires 61 credit hours which will prepare students to work directly with young children in classrooms across a variety of settings from birth to 6 years of age. In addition, students will obtain the Illinois Gateways Levels 2-4 upon graduation.
