Program Description

The training program consists of two courses approved by the Illinois Community College Board Phlebotomy Technician (GSMED-092) Career Readiness (GSCOR-032) Phlebotomy Technician (GSMED-092) 50 contact hours Phlebotomy is an essential part of the healthcare process. Specimen collection, processing, and testing will aid in disease prevention and diagnosis as well as treatment monitoring. The phlebotomist represents the laboratory team and must display a professional demeanor along with appropriate communication skills. (Training must include successfully performing a minimum of 30 venipuncture and 10 capillary sticks or finger sticks on live individuals.) Students will sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Phlebotomy Technician national exam. Career Readiness (GSCOR-032), 20 contact hours This course is designed to equip students with the understanding of how individual contributions in the workplace drive career success and organizational results. Learn workplace accountability tools, the importance of job performance and operational contribution, how to support a team structure, workplace responsibility, as well as understanding management and employer expectations

Application Procedure

1) Client (student) brings any sponsored documents that need to be completed by a WIOA Advisor located at the main campus (Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30pm, or a WIOA Advisor at the Adult Training and Outreach Center (ATOC) ( Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm). Summer hours may apply. 2) Upon completion, the student returns documents to the sponsoring agency for issuance of the voucher. 3) Once the voucher is received, the client (student) brings voucher/documents to Enrollment Services and they will enroll the student. 4) Student will then need to go to the business office to obtain a voucher for the bookstore to acquire textbooks, navy scrubs, and a stethoscope. 5) The student needs to inform the PSC program coordinator of their ITA at the time of exam registration. Maximum Tuition and Fees for this program is $3000.00
