Program Description

The EMT program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to handle the critically ill and injured in a Pre-hospital care environment. Areas covered include cardiac arrests, fractures, injuries, and childbirth. Students are prepared for the certification exam, which requires them to be at least 18 years of age. Students may obtain an information packet about prerequisite physical examination and immunizations from the Nursing Department at Prairie State College prior to the start of the course. Students must score a 78 or better on the reading portion of the COMPASS Placement Test to enroll in this course.

Application Procedure

The student brings any sponsored documents that need to be completed to the PSC Academic and Career Development Advisor located in the Adult Training and Outreach Center. The documents are returned to the sponsoring agency (student) for issuance of the voucher. Once the voucher is received, the student registers in Enrollment services at the main campus. Next, they would take the voucher to the Business office (Main Campus) to have their account updated to reflect they are being sponsored. The maximum tuition and fees amount approved for this occupation is $3,000.

  • Other - Immunizations and 18 years of age
