Program Description

Health Unit Coordinators interface daily with multidisciplinary hospital team members, answer phone calls and manage medical orders for inpatients. This course covers how to transcribe doctor orders. coordinate workflow for a nursing unit, and order necessary lab work and diets. Students will be introduced to processes that involve daily care of patient's medical records, retrieving clinical lab results, and understanding patient privacy.

Application Procedure

The student brings any sponsored documents that need to be completed to the PSC Academic and Career Development Advisor located in the Adult Training and Outreach Center. The documents are returned to the sponsoring agency (student) for issuance of the voucher. Once the voucher is received, the student registers in Enrollment services at the main campus. Next, they would take the voucher to the Business office (Main Campus) to have their account updated to reflect they are being sponsored. The maximum tuition and fees amount approved for this occupation is $5,000.
