Program Description

The Associate in Arts (AA) in Business/Finance program at Richard J. Daley College is a transfer-focused pathway designed for students who plan to continue their studies toward a bachelors degree in business-related fields such as finance, accounting, economics, or business administration. The program follows the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) to ensure smooth transfer to four-year institutions and balances general education requirements with foundational business coursework. Over the course of four semesters, students complete approximately 61 credit hours that include courses in English composition, speech, humanities, mathematics, natural and social sciences, and fine arts, alongside specialized business courses such as Introduction to Business, Financial and Managerial Accounting, Introduction to Finance, and Principles of Economics I and II. Elective options in business allow students to tailor their studies to individual interests or transfer requirements, while flexibility in mathematicsranging from College Algebra to Calculus Isupports diverse academic goals. Overall, the program is structured to provide a solid academic foundation in both general education and business concepts, preparing students for upper-division coursework at a university as well as offering an introduction to the professional skills valued in the business and finance industries
