Program Description

The Web Development, Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree at City Colleges of Chicago is designed to prepare students for careers in designing, developing, and maintaining modern, interactive websites and web applications. The program provides a comprehensive foundation in both client-side and server-side technologies, including programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP, as well as frameworks and tools used in professional web development. Students also gain experience in database integration, responsive design, user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) principles, and website deployment and security. Emphasis is placed on building practical, portfolio-ready projects that reflect real-world development environments and employer expectations. In addition to technical skills, students strengthen their problem-solving, teamwork, and communication abilities, which are essential in technology careers. Graduates of the program are prepared for entry-level positions such as web developer, front-end or back-end developer, and web applications programmer, and may also pursue industry-recognized certifications to increase employability.
