Program Description
The medical assistant usually works in a physician´s office, but the training is so varied that job opportunities are available in a variety of hospital departments, in pharmacies, insurance companies, long-term care or other allied or specialized health care facilities. The program develops such necessary skills as arranging patient appointments, meeting the public in person and by telephone, handling money, basic bookkeeping, ordering equipment and supplies, completing medical forms and transcribing medical reports. An introduction is given to aseptic techniques, assisting the doctor with exams and treatments, and basic laboratory tests.
