The Apprenticeship Illinois Leadership Team continues developing new professional development training programs to support the local workforce area teams with business sector outreach and apprenticeship expansion opportunities through formula funding.

Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO) announced sponsoring a Talent Pipeline Management (TPM) Co/Lab Training Program for Title I and Title III employees during the Apprenticeship Illinois Bootcamp held on August 8, 2023. DCEO will cover the cost of the training, valued at $2,250 per person, for two training programs – TPM Co/Lab Academy and TPM Web Tool Application.

The training is intended for a member of the business service team on the TPM playbook for creating local and regional business sector partnerships as outlined in the Unified State Plan and how to use the web tool for data collection and analysis. The training consists of a combination of self-paced learning along with eight live learning sessions with peers over 12 weeks for 1.5–2 hours. Each session focuses on a different TPM strategy and includes a presentation from TPM faculty members and practitioners from the field. More details will be presented during the webinar.

The second training in January 2024 will cover using the online TPM web tool for survey and data collection. It consists of four live sessions. Details will be discussed in the webinar.

DCEO will host a webinar on Friday, September 15 at 9:00am for all LWIA Executive Directors to provide:
  • Overview of the training and training format.
  • Time commitment. Participants will complete a U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Talent Pipeline Management online Co/Lab Academy led by Kim Kuchenbrod, Illinois’ TPM Fellow and Faculty.
  • Staff selection process.
  • Expected outcomes and deliverables.
