UHCHI Program Info Session
The UNITE
HERE Chicago Hospitality Institute’s Chef de Partie Culinary
Apprenticeship provides aspiring cooks with the opportunity to develop their
culinary skills in a professional kitchen environment. This hands-on
program is designed for individuals who are passionate about cooking
and eager to learn.
Throughout
the apprenticeship, participants will work under the guidance of experienced
chefs, gaining practical experience in sautéing, fabrication, and sauce
preparation. The 8-week on-site training program includes classroom
instruction, a kitchen lab, job readiness, interview preparation, and resume
creation, followed by paid on-the-job training. This portion of the
training enables apprentices to learn techniques, flavor profiles, and food
safety practices, and to apply them in real time.
In
addition to culinary techniques, the program emphasizes teamwork and time
management, equipping participants with the tools needed to advance their
culinary careers. By the end of the apprenticeship, participants will
have the confidence and experience to pursue further culinary opportunities.
UHCHI is
a great post-secondary option for recent grads, out-of-school youth aged 18-24,
or for parents interested in a culinary career without incurring debt.
We are a
WIOA-approved training provider, so our participants incur no financial
responsibility. We provide uniforms, slip-resistant shoe covers,
textbooks, and transportation benefits.
