Develop the future skills your business needs by investing in your current employees through a future‑focused talent strategy!

Illinois Employers: Join us for a practical virtual briefing on accessing grant funding to expand your HR and IT staff development strategies through the use of registered apprenticeships.

Learn how your organization could:
▪️ Receive support through the SHRM Foundation’s Skills First initiative
▪️ Access opportunities through the $350,000 State of Illinois Apprenticeship Expansion Grant.
▪️ Use apprenticeships to help develop skilled talent, improve retention, and address hiring challenges with low cost and reduced administrative burden.

This session gives Chambers of Commerce and their employers a clear, actionable look at how to access current grant funding to expand registered apprenticeships in HR and IT roles. Grant funding is available across all Illinois employers through the State of Illinois Apprenticeship Expansion Grant, awarded by the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO) to the SHRM Foundation, in partnership with Apprenti.

Attendees will learn how these apprenticeship pathways help businesses build a stronger workforce, reduce hiring challenges, and improve retention at low cost and with reduced administrative burden. The briefing will show Chambers and employers how to participate, what support is available through SHRM Foundation’s Skills First initiative, and the steps needed to access the $350,000 grant and additional State of Illinois incentives and tax credits. Business owners will leave with a straightforward approach to use apprenticeships to develop skilled talent and create sustainable, future‑ready workforce solutions.

Presenters:
  • Cheri Willis
  • Bob Lemke
