September 15th – October 15th is National Hispanic Heritage Month. During this month we look at and celebrate the contributions that Hispanic Americans have made to better our society and country. The National Hispanic Heritage Month website has a page on its site with lesson plans for educators that span American history. Additionally, this page includes resources for teachers from well known institutions such as the Library of Congress, National Archives, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Services, and the Smithsonian Institution.
It is important to recognize the achievements, contributions, and influence that Hispanic Americans have provided for the U.S. Illinois workNet encourages our workforce and education partners to learn about and share these resources with their customers.
Be sure to check out Illinois workNet’s livestream from September 14th with Jaime di Paulo with the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce where they discussed Support Latino Business Day and the chamber’s efforts in assisting Latino businesses.
