    October is Manufacturing Month, celebrating the innovators, makers, and problem solvers who drive our state’s economy and inspire the next generation of skilled workers. Manufacturing continues to be a cornerstone of Illinois’ economy, with 14,000+ companies employing more than 650,000 workers, making Illinois the fourth largest manufacturing state in the country.  
      
    Manufacturing in Illinois offers strong, future-focused careers. According to the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association (IMA), there are currently 800,000 open manufacturing jobs nationwide, with that number expected to grow. As the State’s workforce Portal, Illinois workNet offers a range of tools and resources for job searching, pursuing training and education, and unlocking your potential.  
    • Through the Careers, Wages & Tren​ds Search, you can explore high-demand manufacturing occupations across the state, view average wages, and learn about projected employment trends.  
    • Discover your skills by taking Skills and Interests Surveys.  
    • Search for jobs in the manufacturing industry with the Virtual Job Fair and JobFinder tools.  
    • Find training in manufacturing using the WIOA Approved Training Programs and Public/Private Training Programs searches.
