​This report by the Healthcare Task Force of the Illinois Workforce Investment Board (IWIB), “The Workforce Implication of New Health Care Models,” identifies major trends and directions in the healthcare sector, and offers recommendations for ensuring that the healthcare workforce is ready and prepared to respond to its responsibilities.

The report examines and raises issues regarding the implementation of new healthcare delivery models in Illinois. These new models are already being carried out in response to changing population and patient needs, federal and state healthcare reforms, and innovations in delivery models, professional practices and technology.  They place stronger emphasis on prevention and primary care and the use of professional and paraprofessional healthcare workers in new roles with different skill requirements.
